Even Dragons Need Love
This scene is a from the movie “I Am Dragon” and is filmed in Russian, but has subtitles. It’s available on YouTube films and on Amazon Prime.
For all you Romantics out there, this film is one of my favs because it’s a dragon shifter story that captures the pure essence of a Beauty and the Beast situation. The story takes place in a long ago time in a small province in Russia. The movie begins by showing the villagers having a bit of a problem with a dragon, where they were forced every so often to give up a virgin to him to keep the peace. On this occasion, the dragon picked the wrong girl because her betrothed was pissed off enough to where he figured out where the dragon lived and wound up slaying him. And peace reigned throughout the land . . . or so they thought. Fast-forward to some years later, we have a duke’s daughter preparing to wed the grandson of the man who slayed the dragon. Grandson thought it would be a good idea to reenact the old ritual and sing the old song that was used to summon the dragon. Little did they know, the dragon had a son, and he’s the new guy . . . or dragon.
I can’t go on without giving away spoilers, so you’ll have to get the movie and watch it. For all the action hounds and those on team girl boss, this film will be too subdued for you. It’s straight up Romance. Which is great for an evening of chill. If someone asked my why I loved this film so much it was the: (1) the romance; (2) the setting - the cinematography and graphics are awesome, very well done; (3) Miroslava, our female protagonist, is excellent. She’s not out there trying to be a girl boss, but neither is she a damsel in distress either. She’s what you would expect most women to be in her situation: proactive, resourceful, and has a strong sense of self and takes no crap off anyone without being bitchy; (4) Armand is a lonely dragon who, outside of his father, has never had any type of human companionship, let alone ever been around women. Besides being very dreamy in appearance, he does what many guys do, kick back and lets Miroslava run the place and tell him what to do, all under the guise of teaching him to live like a human; and (5) the attraction between them is apparent, but it’s paced very well - not too fast and not too slow - and it makes sense and is realistic in its unfolding.
If you need a movie with beautiful graphics and cinematography, a good soundtrack with modern music, and excellent storytelling. I also like how nothing seemed rushed and everything tied up well at the end. You’ll be satisfied.
More Tales from Ev*A*Dream
One does not simply become an Empress of Ev*A*Dream by being handed a title and pretty clothes. There are a number of tests you're given by the Bestowers and of those tests, sometimes your ass is handed to you on occasion. Also, you're never told you're being tested. You're led to go here and there by a series of inner promptings where you either know what to do or say or you don't.
Most of these things happen on the astral, in other dimensions, or just here. But this was definitely another place that's not here.
It reminded me of an island like Haiti, a very poor place and having recently suffered a travesty of some kind, I couldn’t tell. I was part of a crew that was invited to take part in something I had no idea, as was usual.
We were to stay at the house of a respected family and upon arrival, found ourselves at a place that was at one time quite majestic, but was now in an advance state of disrepair. This photo was the closest thing I could find, but it had the type of windows you'd find at an old factory, fogged up and/or dusty.
The young son greeted us at the door, a very pleasant young man in his late teens. Once inside, the decor was at one time absolutely gorgeous, but now, the trappings were dusty, tattered, faded colors, and you could see the foundation literally crumbling right before your eyes.
The other two gents with me were making the decision that we should lodge upstairs. I was thinking if they had earthquakes in such a region because a light tremor would take the place down. However, you didn't think about fear or dying when in those situations, and if you did, it had to be no more than a passing thought because you came there to do what needed to be done.
They began to walk up the stairs, but when I started up behind them, the entire staircase crumbled and disintegrated into a gigantic sinkhole in the floor.
"I think I'll stay down here," I said.
As with most problems, they get sorted out, and you move on to other things. Funny thing about being in other dimensions is you don’t waste too much time thinking about crumbling house foundations and disintegrating staircases.
Later we met for dinner, becoming acquainted with the mother and father of the young man. It was a wholesome meal setting. The woman was almost apologetic for the offerings, but we expressed our appreciation and assured her the food would be good. And it was, leaving us more than satisfied. No one can deny that a home cooked meal, even in the poorest of settings, can be downright magical. Not just the conversation where you get to hear everyone’s happenings and stories, but you look around at the many surrounding old furnishings and curios in the dining room, you notice that they each had their own stories to tell.
Why Am I Empress of Ev*A*Dream?
When I was bestowed the title of The Empress of Ev*A*Dream, it wasn't an easy transition. Ev*A*Dream wasn't a land that consisted of a simple kingdom, thus why I wasn't crowned queen. There are no bloodlines of an aristocracy or royals that can come into power. It has to be passed down from the current emperor or empress to the next, based on being chosen. The primary factors to being chosen is based on your heart vibration and frequency and your willingness to help weary souls refresh themselves and/or heal whatever afflictions they show up with. They can show up on their own or there are "recruiters" of a sort who go out and find them and ask them to come. Most of my previous predecessors, including myself, we don't come from the best of backgrounds. We've had numerous lifetimes on Earth that were full of the rough and tumble, fumblings and bumblings, as we figured things out. But then, how could we help anyone if we knew little to nothing of their troubles? We cannot help what we haven't ourselves healed within our own souls, and still work on. To be human is no easy task. It's a never ending process where evolving is a continual process.
I wish I could tell you the numerous worlds and dimensions other than here, some high, some low, and some smack dab in the middle; but I know, it would sound too unbelievable - ha, like none of this doesn't. In the dimension of Ev*A*Dream, the lands consist of deserts, forest lands and oceanic with vast seas and pristine sandy beaches. We even enjoy Christmas/Yule that time when Sandy Claws comes. There is no time, so there can be extensive periods of sunlight, twilight or night. Unlike many other places, it is very close to Earth, which is good for those souls who do love it or feel most comfortable with what they just left. It provides a good start to where they choose to go next--when they're ready, of course. Again, there's no time, and one can choose to stay however long they wish. There's no currency that's needed; just a willingness to better oneself.
Currently, I'm not there, as I am mostly present in this current lifetime here living out the rest of my time. I can only travel there in spirit at the moment, making sure things are running. Thankfully, there are numerous attendants there, many put in place by past rulers; some were once refugees who decided to stay on as a guide to others with the same afflictions they once had. While I do have the final say on certain matters, it is submitted to a council that advises me.
The position of emperor or empress is not one where they hole up in a huge castle, sitting on thrones while everyone blows smoke up their asses about how great they are with a lot of pomp and pageantry. No grand entrances with red carpets and horns blaring. There is none of that. I come and go, fade in and out, quite quietly. I'm simply there and maybe not there, but when I'm needed, I'm "what cha need?" While I do have a gigantic mansion of a home, it's more like a big hotel where most of the rooms are given to those who need more attention and comforts than others. There are vast libraries that hold books and scrolls on every subject one could think of. A lake just behind the house allows for boating, swimming or just lounging. We have large dining rooms to share meals. We do eat and when we do, it has to be of that realm. Animals are there and when they evolve to higher planes, they leave their bodies behind to be consumed. People who evolve, simply disappear to wherever they go. People are free to wander the different lands and build their dwellings wherever or however they wish. There are even roving bands of wanderers who like to stay mobile and camp. There are homes and cottages left behind by others who have evolved and can be taken up by someone else.
And the parties.
We have amazing parties, balls, and festivals from time to time. Where my home and others nearby are open and people can play music, dance, chill. They're simply amazing.
But I'll leave you at that info for now. When I leave this plane, that's where you'll find me. I'm still getting used to my role. Again, it's been a transitory process. But I still have some time to do things here. I'd just like to make my last 20 or 30 or so years count before I go. Someone has to provide some light in these dark times. I won't leave you all like that. So, please, enjoy my stories, my my music, and the other things I create. It doesn't matter if the whole world doesn't know, just having you all here now is enough. Muah!
Why Dragons?
I’ve never been asked this, but I’m sure it will come up at some point. Why would I stick painted dragon eyes on handmade bags? It’s been done before, of course, but why when I could easily just stick to making handmade bags as a fashion accessory and stick bling on them or nothing at all?
Actually, the dragon eyes came first. I began helping Cheral McGee of Tyrannical Piratical Treasure out at her convention shows and at the Southern California Renaissance Faire as a guest artist. She invited me to bring my painted dragon eyes, and she’d make space on her table for them. People gravitated to them, but stated they didn’t know what to do with them. The next year, I glued some metal filigrees on top of polymer clay backs and made pins out of them. People gravitated to them, but just said “nice.” After a show of selling absolutely nothing, I looked over at Cheral and began to moan about my poor sales. At the time, I was making leather bags for my costumes. She said, “why don’t you make some bags and stick your eyes on them.” Fair enough.
At the time, I was making some larger bags and during my research, came upon a guy on YouTube sewing a handbag with a machine. I had a little Singer Heavy Duty sewing machine. I was okay at sewing with a machine, but preferred to hand stitching leather. I realized that this was going to take far too much time and that having a sewing machine would be better. I was intrigued by the handbags because I’d never attempted such before. I won’t bore you all with my rabbit hole of watching YouTube videos and learning how to make handbags, spilling over to Facebook where I came across groups of women making bags. My friend came over with a handbag by some designer, but the vinyl was gator embossed. I took one of my painted dragon eyes and stuck it on top and felt that’s where I needed to go. However, getting even gator embossed leather was expensive. It was important for me to keep things cost-effective for the type of shows Cheral and I were doing. I then came across vinyl, which settled that problem. Though not cheap, it wasn’t too expensive either. The dragon was unleashed.
But I digress. Why dragons? Why must there be dragons. I began painting the eyes because I’d dove into the rabbit hole of YouTube and came across artisans painting them, and it just woke something in me. I’d always loved dragons. As the Empress of Ev*A*Dream and a traveler of many realms, I have befriended many characters, including dragon keepers. No, they don’t keep dragons, they merely study them, and when they evolve and leave their bodies behind, they draw illustrations of them - because we have no cameras there - and log them in their writings. There was one such soul named Johannes who told me of his many travels of tending and logging dragon evolutions, and I asked to come along. I’ve been treated to many different dragons of various sizes, shapes, and colors. They are everything the storybooks tell us, but far more solitary, which is why they no longer inhabit these realms. I was amazed by their eyes, even in evolution, they remain just as colorful and light as when the spirit inhabited the bodies. The only difference is there is no movement. Johannes and other dragon keepers have an amazing skill where they can stun the dragons into stillness, allowing them to get close enough for observation. Thanks to him, I have seen some downright beautiful dragons, even some extremely cute, and some you hope never to meet anywhere.
No, their eyes aren’t as sparkly as the ones I paint, but the sparkle is to represent the lifeforce which is present in us all, and to see what the dragons see when they are charmed into stillness. We all need a little stillness from time to time.
Stay tuned for more stories. I have many.
